Mark Grosse and his wife, Carolyn, moved to Port Aransas in 1971 after having visited the island with his family since he was a little kid. It was 1972 when Mark first started selling real estate in Port A as an agent for Ed Tarrant. Mr. Tarrant had been selling and developing property in Port Aransas since the 1930s and encouraged Mark to get a broker’s license. In 1973, upon Mr. Tarrant’s passing, Mark opened Mark Grosse Real Estate. Through all sorts of markets, Mark has continued selling Port Aransas for more than five decades, and has, in many instances, sold the same property five or more times during his lengthy tenure as the most knowledgeable broker on the island.

Today, Mark Grosse Real Estate is staffed by Mark Grosse, Linda Johnson, Jana Snow, Chris Shanklin, Tara Hogan, Ashleigh Robertson, and Cindy Zufall. With a combined 145 years at Mark Grosse Real Estate, we pride ourselves in working as a team and in our unequaled knowledge of all things real estate in Port Aransas. We have a lot of fun working together, and, while we don’t take ourselves too seriously, we take your business very seriously. As Mark Grosse says, “Every deal’s a big deal!” And it is.

Volunteer capacities we’ve taken on over the years include Port Aransas City Council, PAISD School Board of Trustees, City of Port Aransas Planning & Zoning Commission, City of Port Aransas Fire Chief, City of Port Aransas Board of Adjustments & Appeals, founding board member and board members of the Port Aransas Education Foundation, Charity League, founder and members of Port Aransas’ Operation Santa Claus, Youth Development Foundation of Port Aransas, PAHS Project Graduation, and many more. Each month, we give a portion of our sales commissions to a local charity or need, and proudly award PAHS graduates with scholarships annually. We love this community and are proud to support our unique island home.

We’re the best real estate team on the island, too!  Our team has consistently, according to South Texas MLS data, and Coastal Bend MLS data before that, been at the top of the market in sales year after year. According to aforementioned data, in 2023, although our small team makes up less than 6% of the agents in Port Aransas, we closed more transactions AND more transactions per agent AND more listings AND more buyer sales AND higher list side sales volume AND higher buyer side sales volume AND higher total sales volume than any other island-wide real estate outfit in Port Aransas. (By “island-wide,” we mean any real estate brokerage besides a certain master-planned community developer sales office which had us in a couple of the above categories.)
